Tessera privacy policy

Draft updated July 29, 2026

The short version

Tessera is a local-first puzzle app. It does not require an account and has no developer-operated backend, advertising, analytics, or tracking. Puzzle play and progress remain in the app's local storage.

Information stored on your device

Tessera stores app settings and themes, puzzle progress, daily results, streaks and statistics, in-progress saved games, and a local cache of the Tessera Pro entitlement. This information is used to resume games, remember preferences, and display local progress. It is not sent to a Tessera-operated server.

Purchases

Tessera Pro is a one-time purchase handled by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. Product lookup, purchase, and Restore Purchases may require a connection to Apple. Tessera uses verified entitlement state to unlock Pro features. Apple's policies govern purchase processing and retention.

Sharing

When you choose to share a result, Tessera generates the image on your device and opens Apple's system share sheet. You choose the recipient or service. Tessera does not automatically upload the image or record where you send it.

Permissions and tracking

Tessera does not request location, camera, microphone, photo-library, contacts, or notification access. It contains no advertising, attribution, cross-app tracking, or developer analytics SDK.

Deletion

Reset Progress clears puzzle progress and saved games; it does not erase app settings or Apple purchase history. Deleting the app removes its active local app data from the device. Apple purchase records and Apple-managed device backups are governed by Apple.

Changes

The policy and App Store disclosures will be updated before any release that adds accounts, developer networking, cloud sync, analytics, advertising, or new data handling.
